This is a tutorial for CLASSworks Academy.

Actions

An action happens when you
click on red text or
press a green button

View a file in the File Library

In the File Library you can find educational material, also called Files. Select the button "File Library" in the menu on the left.

To open a File, for example "A Christmas Carol", click on the image with a green border or click on the red text.

To close the File, click the text Back, top-left on your screen.

The first 15 Files are shown on the page. At the end of the page you can
click on "2" or "next" to go to the next page to see more Files, or
click on "1" or "previous" to go back to the first page.

Opening several filetypes in the File Library

If the file format or filetype is a picture (.gif or .jpg type) opening and closing it is straight forward.

If the file is an Animation (shockwave type .swf) the File has its own buttons, for example "Play" or "Start" or ">>"

If the file is a .pdf type, you can navigate with the PDF-toolbar on top:

If the file is a Text type (.odt), a window pops up. In some browsers you need to Open the file again and the text document is displayed in a new Office window.
To close the text file, you need to close Office.

If the file is a Sound (.mp3), a Media Player opens in a new window. To close the sound file, you need to close the Media Player.

If the file is a Film, it opens like an animation or a sound: see above.

Search a file in the File Library

There are many files in the File Library. It is helpful to search or select files.
Search a file by typing a keyword or some letters of the keyword. Then you press the green button Go. If you enter for example the letters "afr", you will find the files where "afr" is in the file name, in the description or in the allocated keywords (not shown). You cannot search for words within documents.

It is also possible to select a category of files. That can be a Subject, a Filetype and/or a Level. Press the dropdown button to see the possibilities.
If you want to see all files again, press the green File Library menu button.

Courses

A Course combines selected files for a specific Course. First select the Subject you're interest in, or press Show all Courses if you want to see all the Courses.
Select a Course and open it by pressing the red text or the image with a green border.
You see a description of the course and the selected files.

Relation of Files, Subjects and Courses

Files, Courses and Subjects are related to one another. A file can be related to one or more subjects. A file can also be related to one or more courses. A Course is related to only one subject.

Sound

Some files have sound. This only works when you have sound working on your computer. A headphone can be used when you do not want to disturb the person sitting next to you.

Print a file

- Printing a Picture file: Open the File, select "Download file" (see top left of the screen), press the keys Ctrl and P, or select "Print" on top of the screen in your browser.
- Printing a Text file: Open the file and use the text editor to print the file, or press the buttons Control and P.
- Printing a PDF file: Open the file and use the PDF toolbar, clicking on the printer image.
- It is not possible to print an Animation or Film.

Make sure the printer is available, selected, connected, with paper and ink!
